Durst Phototechnik AG is a privately owned manufacturer of industrial inkjet printers located in Brixen/Italy. Durst has been a leading company in the field of photo printers using lasers or LEDs to expose photographic paper with exposure times per pixel down to 350ns. Today Durst is an important manufacturer of inkjet printers for industrial applications like graphic, advertising, tile and wood industry. So called scanning and single pass technology is applied in these printers. According to the market demand, different types of inkjet print heads are used in their printers. Durst owns all the necessary technical disciplines like mechanics, fluid mechanics, electronics, PCB board design, physics, chemistry and software to develop printing devices completely by themselves and to react very quickly to market demands. The printers are designed for water based inks, UV-curing inks and high pigmented ceramic inks. To introduce new technologies quickly, Durst has collaborated intensively with universities and research centers like Fraunhofer Institut (D), Steinbeiss Stiftung (D), Alfred University (US), Joanneum Research (A), FH Wiener Neustadt (A) and University of Graz (A) in the past. Some of these projects have been financed directly by Durst without any public support, some have been supported by national R&D programs. At the end of all of these collaborations the knowledge was transferred successfully to Durst. Durst has R&D and manufacturing facilities in Brixen/Italy and Lienz/Austria with totally 40 engineers and a total number of 455 employees. Since 2009 Durst operates a Research Centre in cooperation with the University of Graz. Durst is selling their products worldwide.
